Online Seminar - Encrypting Everything in a Windows Environment: EFS File Encryption, IPSec Transport Encryption, Email Encryption in Exchange 2003, 802.1x Wireless Encryption, and Auto-Enrollment of Certificates

In this seminar led by Rand Morimoto, author of several books on security in a Windows and Exchange environment as well as 1 of 4 cyber-security advisors to the White House, Rand discusses, demonstrates, and shares best practices on implementing and supporting an encrypted environment.

Rand presents (and demonstrates):

  • what’s involved in setting up a certificate server and attaching it to Active Directory
  • how the implementation of “Auto-Enrollment of Certificates” makes certificate administration and management an automated process and drastically minimizes the effort it takes to support a certificate-based security environment
  • installation and configuration of the Encrypted File System (EFS) that is almost a requirement for any organization with employees carrying around laptop computers with customer or employee data on the systems (relative to California SB-1386 law on securing private information)
  • best practices at using Group Policies to deploy and manage IPSec encrypted transport communications between servers and client systems
  • extension of certificates to an Exchange 2003 environment for encrypted email communications between employees and outside of an organization
  • use of the same certificate environment to secure WiFi wireless, PDA mobile, and VPN remote users for secured encrypted communications
  • Etc, etc, etc.

You should download and print the slide deck that will be used throughout this session

You can purchase and download a copy of Rand's Mini-Book from Que Publishing for $9.95 that has step-by-step procedures for implementing EFS, IPSec, S/MIME, and 802.1x wireless in a Windows 2003 environment
